The Ayathan Family: Legacy, Reform, and Lineage  **Origins and Legacy of Dr. Ayathan Gopalan** Dr. Ayathan Gopalan (1861–1948), known as "Darsarji," was a pioneering physician, social reformer, and Renaissance leader from Kerala. Born in Tellicherry (now Thalassery), he was the first son of Ayathan Chandan and became a transformative figure in Kerala’s social and educational landscape.
